한편, 의용소방대는 화재 진압과 구조·구급 활동을 지원하는 각 지역의 봉사 조직으로, 각 지방자치단체에서 운영되고 있다. 매년 3월 19일은 대원들의 헌신과 희생정신을 기리는 ‘의용소방대의 날’로 지정되어 있다.
추 의원 측은 앞으로도 현장 방문과 간담회를 통해 대원들의 애로사항을 듣고, 처우 개선을 위한 구체적인 지원책을 마련할 계획이라고 전했다.
