이 날 일본 문부과학성은 교과서 검정 조사심의회 총회를 열어 2027년도부터 사용할 고교 교과서 심사 결과를 확정했다. 검정 대상 사회과 교과서는 일본사탐구, 세계사탐구, 정치·경제, 지리탐구 등이다.
확정된 정치·경제, 지리탐구 교과서 중 대부분에는 4년 전 검정을 통과해 현재 사용되는 교과서와 마찬가지로 독도 영유권을 주장하는 일본 정부의 견해가 실렸다.

전 회장은 “이러한 일본의 거짓 역사교육은 반드시 중단되어야 하고, 이러한 거짓 역사를 배운 일본의 미래세대 청소년들이 기성세대가 되는 10~20년 뒤에는 일본의 독도영유권 주장이 더욱 강력해질 것이다”며, “이에 우리 대한민국도 체계적인 독도교육 및 모든 학생들이 독도를 탐방하는 등의 교육과정 신설도 필요하다”고 밝혔다.
한편, (사)대한민국독도협회는 재작년부터 협회 산하에 독도강사학교(권혁수 학교장)를 창설해 현직 대학교수, 전직 학교장, 유사 경력자 중 우수 인원을 선발해 독도전문강사로 양성하고 있으며 현재 6명의 독도전문강사가 전국 학교에 독도교육을 실시하고 있다.
