【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 포항시장 경선 후보로 확정된 박대기 예비후보가 29일 포항 어촌·어항 재도약을 위한 ‘5대 프로젝트’를 발표하며 해양 산업 중심 도시로의 전환을 선언했다.
박 예비후보는 이날 “포항 어촌은 고령화와 시설 노후화로 위기에 직면해 있다”며 “20년간의 국정 경험과 정책 네트워크를 총동원해 어민의 삶을 지키고, 해양 산업을 미래 성장동력으로 키우겠다”고 밝혔다.
그는 우선 최근 호르무즈 해협 긴장에 따른 국제 유가 급등으로 어업용 연료비 부담이 커진 점을 지적하며 긴급 지원책을 제시했다. 포항을 ‘어업경영 위기지역’으로 지정하도록 정부에 건의하고, 어업용 면세유를 가격 안정제 대상에 포함시키는 한편 유가보조금 지원과 경영자금 상환 유예 등을 추진하겠다는 것이다. 중앙정부 지원이 지연될 경우 시 차원의 자체 지원도 검토하겠다고 했다.

노후 어항 정비 방안도 내놨다. 정부의 ‘어촌신활력증진사업’과 연계해 국비 확보를 확대하고, 낙후된 어항 시설을 전면 리모델링해 안전사고를 줄이고 정주 환경을 개선하겠다는 구상이다.
해양 바이오 산업 육성 계획도 포함됐다. 포스텍과 협력해 해조류 기반 기능성 소재 개발과 연구개발(R&D)을 추진하고, 산학연 클러스터를 조성해 고부가가치 산업 생태계를 구축하겠다는 것이다. 박 예비후보는 “포항의 바다는 단순한 어업 공간을 넘어 미래 바이오 산업의 원천이 될 수 있다”고 말했다.
수산물 가공과 유통 혁신도 공약에 담겼다. 과메기·문어 등 지역 특산물을 활용한 밀키트 가공 공장을 유치해 일자리 창출과 판로 확대를 동시에 추진하고, 주요 온라인 플랫폼에 ‘포항관’을 개설해 전국 및 해외 소비자와 직접 연결되는 유통망을 구축하겠다는 계획이다.
박 예비후보는 “어촌과 어항은 포항 경제의 한 축이지만 그동안 충분한 투자와 관심을 받지 못했다”며 “정책 추진력을 바탕으로 포항의 바다를 세계와 연결하고, 시민이 체감하는 변화를 만들어내겠다”고 말했다.

Park Dae-gi, a candidate in the People Power Party’s Pohang mayoral primary, on the 29th unveiled a “five-project initiative” aimed at revitalizing fishing villages and ports while positioning marine industries as a future growth engine.
Park stated that Pohang’s fishing communities are facing crises due to aging populations and outdated infrastructure, vowing to leverage his two decades of government experience and policy network to improve fishermen’s livelihoods and foster new industries.
He proposed immediate measures to address rising fuel costs caused by global oil price spikes, including designating Pohang as a “fisheries management crisis zone,” expanding fuel subsidies, and deferring loan repayments. He also suggested that local government support could be implemented if national measures are delayed.
Park further pledged to reform the fisheries direct payment system to address disparities between coastal and offshore fisheries.
