국립금오공대는 3월 30일 교내 산학협력관 및 청운대 일대에서 ‘2026-1학기 신입생 동기유발 이룸(E:ROOM) 프로젝트’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 ‘MEGAversity 연합대학’에 참여 중인 국립금오공대, 경운대, 구미대 소속 외국인 신입생과 교직원 등 240여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다. MEGAversity 연합대학은 국립금오공대가 선정된 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업의 일환으로, 우수 외국인 유학생 유치와 지역 정주율 제고를 통해 산업 맞춤형 인재를 양성하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
특히 이번 행사는 2026학년도 글로컬융합학부(REC학부)에 입학한 외국인 신입생들의 첫 공식 일정으로, 초기 대학생활에 대한 동기 부여와 주도적인 학업 설계를 지원하기 위해 기획됐다.
행사는 김상호 총장의 환영사를 시작으로, 3개 대학 유학생 대표 선서, MEGAversity 연합대학 소개, 전통문화 공연 등 다양한 프로그램이 이어졌다.
이날 태국, 우즈베키스탄, 러시아 등 다양한 국가 출신 선배 유학생들의 한국생활 적응 경험 발표가 큰 호응을 얻었다. 선배들은 학업 수행 방법과 시험 준비, 교우 관계 형성, 생활 정보 등 실질적인 노하우를 공유하며 신입생들과 공감대를 형성했다.
참가자들은 다양한 체험형 프로그램과 교류 활동을 통해 새로운 환경에 대한 심리적 부담을 완화하고, 또래 및 선배 유학생들과의 소통을 통해 실질적인 정보와 경험을 나누는 시간을 가졌다.
권오형 산학협력부총장은 “이룸 프로젝트는 외국인 유학생들이 대학생활 초기 단계부터 안정적으로 적응할 수 있도록 돕는 동시에, 연합대학 간 협력을 기반으로 지역 정주형 글로벌 인재로 성장할 수 있는 토대를 마련하는 데 의미가 있다”며 “유학생 유치부터 교육, 취업, 지역 정주까지 이어지는 체계적인 지원 모델을 구축해 글로벌 교육 협력의 선도 사례로 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology has prepared a program to support the stable adaptation of new international students to university life.
Kumoh National Institute of Technology announced that it held the ‘2026-1 Semester New Student Motivation E:ROOM Project’ on March 30 at the Industry-Academic Cooperation Center and the Cheongun University area on campus.
The event was attended by approximately 240 people, including new international students and faculty members from Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Kyungwoon University, and Gumi University, who are participating in the ‘MEGAversity Alliance.’ The MEGAversity Alliance is part of the RISE (Regional Innovation Center University Support System) project, to which Kumoh National Institute of Technology was selected, and aims to cultivate industry-tailored talent by attracting outstanding international students and increasing the local settlement rate.
In particular, this event served as the first official schedule for international freshmen admitted to the Glocal Convergence School (REC School) for the 2026 academic year. It was planned to provide motivation for their early university life and support them in proactively designing their academic paths.
The event began with a welcoming address by President Kim Sang-ho, followed by a diverse program that included an oath by representatives of international students from the three universities, an introduction to the MEGAversity alliance, and traditional cultural performances.
On this day, presentations on adapting to life in Korea by senior international students from various countries, including Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Russia, received a great response. The seniors shared practical know-how regarding academic performance, exam preparation, building friendships, and daily life information, fostering a sense of connection with the freshmen.
Through various experiential programs and exchange activities, participants were able to alleviate psychological stress regarding the new environment and had the opportunity to share practical information and experiences through communication with peers and senior international students.
Kwon Oh-hyung, Vice President for Industry-Academic Cooperation, stated, “The E-Room Project is significant in that it helps international students adapt stably from the early stages of university life, while simultaneously laying the foundation for them to grow into global talents who settle in the region based on cooperation among the affiliated universities.” He added, “We will develop this into a leading example of global educational cooperation by establishing a systematic support model that spans from student recruitment to education, employment, and regional settlement.”
