이 노래는 필자와 인연이 많다. 지난 2023년과 지난해 2025년에 이어 이번에 3번째로 가사를 번역하였으며 또 글을 쓰게 된다. 루마니아 가수 Andra의 깊은 울림을 소중히 여겼기에 가능한 일이다. 이번에 3번째 번역을 하면서도 루마니아 민요 특유의 다양한 방언과 구어 표현 때문에 여전히 쉽지 않은 작업이다.
루마니아 사람들은 자국의 가수 안드라(Andra)를 두고 “앞으로 200년이 지나도 다시 태어나기 어려운 목소리”라 말한다. 맑고 깊은 음색 속에 민요의 원형적 정서를 고스란히 담아내는 목소리는 단순한 가창을 넘어 오래된 민중의 기억을 다시 불러내는 힘이 있다.
