[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 당구인들이 경남 고성으로 몰려든다. 고성군은 당국국가대표 선발전을 비롯 전국활체육대축전, 고성군수배 전국당구대회 등이 잇따라 개최된다고 16일 밝혔다.

(사)대한당구연맹이 주최·주관하는 공식 국가대표 선발 무대인 당구 국가대표 1차 선발전이 오는 18일부터 22일까지 고성군 국민체육센터에서 열린다.

특히, 2030 도하아시안게임을 목표로 한 ‘골든 프로젝트’가 본격 가동되는 가운데 16년 만에 당구 국가대표 선발전이 다시 열리며 의미를 더하고 있다.

국가대표는 캐롬 3쿠션(남·여), 포켓9볼(남·여), 스누커, 잉글리시빌리어드 4개 종목 6개 세부종목에서 선발되며, 각 세부종목별 3명씩 총 18명이 최종 선발될 예정이다.

국가대표 선발전에 이어 23일부터 26일까지는 2026 전국생활체육대축전 당구 종목 경기가 같은 장소에서 연이어 열리며, 9월 9일부터 13일까지는 고성군수배 전국 당구대회가 개최될 예정이다. 

연중 이어지는 대회 개최를 통해 고성군은 대한민국 당구 중심지로서 입지를 더욱 공고히 할 전망이다.

군 관계자는 “이번 국가대표 선발전을 시작으로 전국생활체육대축전과 고성군수배 전국 당구대회까지 연이어 개최되며 고성군이 대한민국 당구 중심지로 자리매김할 것으로 기대한다” 며 “앞으로도 전국 및 국가대표급 대회를 지속적으로 유치해 스포츠 중심도시 위상을 더욱 공고히 해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
