[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 통영시가 지난 15일 한산대첩교 예비타당성 조사 통과 등 지역의 주요 현안사업의 원활한 추진과 국비 지원 등을 위해 기획예산처 등 주요 정부부처를 방문했다.

시는 통영시민의 오래된 숙원사업이자 남해안 관광 거점도시로 도약할 수 있는 핵심사업인 한산대첩교 건설에 대해 경제성 중심 평가에서 벗어나 지역균형발전, 관광활성화 등 정책적 효과를 종합적으로 반영한 예비타당성 조사 통과를 건의했다. 

또한 교통 접근성 향상은 물론 나아가 주민들의 삶의 질 향상 및 정주여건 개선에도 크게 기여할 수 있는 남부내륙철 적기 개통도 함께 건의했다.

아울러 통영시 주민의 건강한 삶 영위와 복지 향상에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 중요한 사업인 욕지도의 안정적인 상수도 공급을 위한 먹는 물 공급대책과 통영적십자병원 이전 신축에 대한 사업계획 등도 중점적으로 논의했다. 

시 관계자는 "이번 정부부처 방문을 통해 한산대첩교 등 통영시의 주요 현안 사업 추진에 대하여 중앙부처와의 공감대를 형성하였다”며“앞으로도 시민들의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 기반 조성에 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 통영시는 이러한 적극적인 국비확보를 위한 노력과 공모사업 선정 등 지속적이고 활발한 활동을 통해 2026년도 제1회 추가경정예산 약 1조 1억 8,500만원을 편성한 바 있다.
