전남도는 16일 행사 개최지인 여수 세계박람회장을 방문해 자원봉사 준비 상황을 현장 점검하고, 국제 행사에 걸맞은 서비스 제공 및 안전 관리 체계를 집중 확인했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 4월 20일부터 25일까지 여수 세계박람회장 일원에서 열린다. 유엔기후변화협약(UNFCCC) 기후주간 및 녹색대전환 국제주간과 연계하여 진행되며, 특히 올해 11월 튀르키예 안탈리아에서 열릴 예정인 제31차 유엔기후변화협약 당사국 총회(COP31)를 앞두고 글로벌 기후 현안을 선제적으로 점검하는 중요한 자리다.
전남도는 이번 행사에 198개 당사국과 주요 국제기구, 비정부기구(NGO) 관계자 등 약 1,000여 명이 참석할 것으로 전망하고 있다.
