이번 프로그램은 유산구역인 충남 서천, 전북 고창, 전남 신안·보성·순천 등 3개 광역 및 5개 지자체 내 초등학교를 대상으로 진행된다. 전년도에 이어 지속 추진되는 이번 교육은 학생들이 거주 지역의 갯벌이 지닌 탁월한 보편적 가치(OUV)를 올바르게 이해하고 자부심을 가질 수 있도록 기획된 ‘찾아가는 방문형 교육’이다.

올해 교육의 가장 큰 특징은 단순한 이론 전달에서 벗어나 4차 산업 기술을 적극 활용했다는 점이다. 교육 현장에서는 ▲VR(가상현실)을 통한 갯벌 생태계 가상 탐방 ▲AI(인공지능) 및 디지털 도구 활용 체험 ▲드론을 이용한 갯벌 위협 요소 확인 등 다채로운 프로젝트형 학습이 진행된다.
