(무안·장흥=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전라남도가 ‘정남진 장흥 물축제’를 대한민국을 대표하는 글로벌 축제로 육성하기 위해 세계 최대 물 축제인 태국 ‘송크란 축제’ 현장에서 적극적인 홍보전을 펼쳤다.
전남도는 지난 11일부터 15일까지 5일간 태국 방콕 벤차키티 공원에서 열린 송크란 축제에 참가해 다양한 교류 활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다. 이번 방문은 전남도가 지역 축제의 세계화를 위해 추진 중인 ‘지역축제 글로벌화 사업’ 공모에 장흥군이 선정됨에 따라 성사됐다.
이번 축제 개막 행사에는 쑤라싹 판짜른워라꾼 태국 관광체육부 장관과 타야니 끼얃파이분 태국 관광청장을 비롯해 세계 각국의 주태국 대사들이 대거 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 전남도 관계자와 노영환 장흥군수 권한대행은 이들과 함께하며 양국 간 문화 교류의 의미를 다지고, ‘물’이라는 공통 주제를 바탕으로 한 상생 발전 방안을 논의했다.
앞서 전남도와 태국정부관광청, 장흥군은 지난 2024년 축제 업무협약을 체결하고, 장흥 물축제와 송크란 축제를 세계적 브랜드로 성장시키기 위한 지속적인 협력을 이어오고 있다.

한편, 올해 ‘정남진 장흥 물축제’는 오는 7월 25일부터 8월 2일까지 9일간 장흥 탐진강과 편백숲 우드랜드 일원에서 화려하게 펼쳐진다.
