충남 논산시가 미래 농업을 이끌 청년들의 성공적인 안착을 위해 이론 교육을 마친 예비 청년 농부들이 실제 농사 현장에서 실무 감각을 익히는 ‘스마트팜 청년창업 현장실습 교육’을 본격적으로 추진한다.
앞서 논산시는 지난 2월 선발된 스마트팜 청년창업 교육생 3명을 대상으로 작목별 선도농가와 매칭을 완료하고 본격적인 연수에 돌입했다고 밝혔다. 이번 사업은 청년농업인들이 단계별 실무를 경험하며 영농 기술을 체계적으로 습득해 농촌에 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 돕는 데 목적이 있다.
논산시는 교육생들의 희망 작목에 맞춰 딸기, 엽채류 분야의 선도농가 3곳을 선정하고 멘토-멘티 약정 체결을 마쳤다. 연수생들은 앞으로 6개월간 총 400시간에 걸쳐 선도농가로부터 스마트팜 운영의 핵심인 정보통신기술(ICT)과 사물인터넷(IoT) 활용법을 전수받는다.
단순한 기술 전수를 넘어 기후 변화에 따른 정밀 제어법 등 현장의 생생한 노하우를 직접 몸으로 익히는 과정이다. 교육 일정은 농가 상황에 맞춰 탄력적으로 운영되어 실효성을 높였다.
특히 이번 과정은 선도농가와의 협의를 통해 1일 4시간, 월 80시간 이내에서 본인의 농장에서 직접 실습해보는 ‘자가 영농실습’을 병행할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 배운 내용을 즉시 적용해볼 수 있는 기회를 제공해 학습 효과를 극대화하겠다는 취지다.
교육생들의 경제적 부담을 덜어주기 위한 지원책도 마련됐다. 연수 기간 중 교육생에게는 매월 최대 100만 원의 교육훈련비가 지급되며, 노하우를 전수하는 선도농가에는 월 50만 원의 멘토 수당이 지원된다.
