공사는 22일 보문골프클럽에서 서라벌도시가스와 ‘친환경 골프장 운영 및 신재생에너지 활성화를 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다. 이번 협약은 ESG 경영 실현의 일환으로, 보문골프클럽을 거점으로 실질적인 탄소중립 모델을 구현하기 위해 추진됐다.
협약에 따라 보문골프클럽 유휴부지에는 수소연료전지 발전시설이 설치되며, 발전 과정에서 발생하는 폐열은 클럽하우스와 사우나 등 골프장 운영 에너지로 재활용된다. 수소연료전지 폐열을 산업시설이나 공동주택이 아닌 골프장 운영에 직접 적용하는 사례는 국내외에서 전례가 없는 것으로 알려졌다.
이번 사업에서 서라벌도시가스는 연료전지 설비의 설치와 운영·관리를 맡아 전기와 폐열의 효율적 활용을 통해 친환경 골프장 조성에 핵심 역할을 수행할 예정이다. 이를 통해 보문골프클럽은 에너지 효율을 극대화한 탄소중립 골프장의 글로벌 선도 모델로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.
김남일 경상북도문화관광공사 사장은 “수소연료전지 폐열을 활용한 골프장 운영은 세계 최초 시도”라며 “지속가능한 친환경 관광 인프라를 구축하고 관광 분야 ESG 경영의 새로운 이정표를 세우겠다”고 밝혔다.
김준석 서라벌도시가스 대표이사는 “시설 가동 시 매년 30년생 소나무 3만8천 그루를 식재하는 것과 같은 온실가스 감축 효과를 기대할 수 있다”며 “에너지 비용 절감과 함께 정부 탄소중립 정책에도 기여할 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 공사는 앞서 수퍼빈, 우시산과 협약을 체결하고 보문골프클럽에 AI 무인회수기를 설치, 페트병을 수거해 골프채 헤드커버 등으로 재활용하는 사업을 추진하는 등 관광 분야 ESG 경영을 확대하고 있다.
서라벌도시가스는 2000년 설립 이후 경주와 영천 지역을 중심으로 천연가스(LNG)를 공급해 온 에너지 전문 기업으로, 최근에는 수소연료전지 발전 등 신재생에너지 사업을 통해 탄소중립 실현에 나서고 있다.
