코레일 경북본부 전기처는 최근 영동선 VHF 터널무선중계장치 점검을 실시하고, 열차 운행과 직결되는 무선통신 환경의 신뢰성을 확인했다고 밝혔다. 이번 점검에는 박찬조 경북본부장이 직접 참여해 전 과정을 점검하고 현장 직원들을 격려했다.

점검은 선로 진입 전 차단 협의를 거친 뒤 장비 상태와 통화시험, 버튼 기능 점검 등 중계장치 기능 전반과 터널 내 케이블 안테나 상태를 중심으로 진행됐다.

특히 경북본부는 무선통화 품질 개선을 위해 터널 내 음영지역 6개소에 중계장치와 RCX 케이블, GP 안테나 등을 설치하는 공사를 완료했다. 이후 실시한 합동 점검에서 모든 구간에서 양호한 통화 품질을 확인했으며, 관내 전 구간이 무선통화권으로 개선돼 열차 안전 운행에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

박찬조 경북본부장은 “무선통화 품질의 유지와 개선은 열차 안전 확보의 핵심 요소”라며 “현장 중심의 철저한 점검과 관리로 안전한 철도 환경 조성에 최선을 다해 달라”고 당부했다.
