【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자= 울진해양경찰서(서장 조석태)는 경북 동해안 해상에서 작살을 이용 밍크고래 2마리를 불법 포획한 A씨 등 일당 19명을 적발해 이중 4명을 구속하고 15명을 불구속 입건했다고 밝혔다.
26일, 울진해경에 따르면 A씨 등은 지난해 9월 부터 10월께 2차례에 걸쳐 약 4,000만원 상당의 밍크고래 2마리를 포획한 혐의를 받고있다. 또 같은해 11월 부터 올해 1월까지 약 1억 5천만원 상당의 대게를 불법 포획한 혐의도 함께 받고 있다.
이들은 해상 포획책, 운반책, 판매책 등 철저한 역할 분담을 통해 약 4,000만원 상당의 밍크고래 2마리(약 700kg)와 약 1억 5천만원 상당의 대게 2만8,700여 마리를 포획한 것으로 드러났다.

울진해경 관계자에 따르면 올해 2월경부터 약 10개월에 걸쳐 수사를 진행하였으나, 주요 피의자들이 휴대전화번호를 바꾸고 도주해 수사에 어려움을 겪은 것으로 알려졌다.
울진해경 관계자는“건전한 어업 질서를 어지럽히고, 고갈되고 있는 수산자원보호 정책에 역행하는 불법포획사범에 대하여는 끝까지 추적해 검거 하겠다”고 말했다.
