한국자유총연맹은 12일자 보도자료를 통해 “지난 2002년 UN 경제사회이사회의 특별협의 지위를 획득한 국제 NGO 단체로써, 존 마크 램지어가 국제학술지인 ‘국제법경제학리뷰’에 기고한 ‘태평양전쟁에서의 성 계약’ 논문의 내용 중 ‘위안부 피해자들은 자진해서 매춘업자와 계약을 맺었다’ 등의 허위 주장에 대해 심각한 우려와 분노를 표명하지 않을 수 없다. 램지어의 이러한 행위는 1991년 김학순 할머니, 1992년에 얀 루프 오헤른 등 위안부 피해 생존자의 증언 후 그간 유엔을 비롯한 국제사회와 세계의 시민단체, 학계의 위안부에 관한 학술적 성과와 합의를 인정치 않고 학술 논문이 지켜야 할 사실에 근거한 내용 기재라는 연구윤리를 심각히 위반한 국제적 문제”라고 지적하고 “이를 증명하듯 램지어의 논문이 발표되자마자 위안부 연구에 참여했던 전 세계 저명한 학자와 교수들, 미국 내 한인회, 각 대학 학생회, 미국 연방의원, 호사카 유지 교수 등의 학술적 근거에 의한 강한 비판이 쏟아졌다. 그럼에도 램지어는 학자로서의 최소한의 양심을 저버린 듯 자신의 거짓 주장을 철회하지 않고 있다. 또한 국제학술지를 자처하는 ‘국제법경제학리뷰’도 램지어의 학술 논문을 가장한 허위 주장을 게재하고 있다”고 비판했다.

▲램지어는 자신의 망언으로 다시금 피해를 본 위안부 생존자들에게 즉각 사죄하라.
▲국제법경제학리뷰는 국제학술지로서 합당한 근거에 기반하지 않은 램지어의 망언 게재를 즉각 중단하라.
▲램지어의 망언을 옹호하는 일본의 극우세력과 한국 내 일부 동조자는 역사의 진실에 등을 돌리는 역사 날조 찬동을 즉각 반성하라.
Korea Freedom Federation condemns “John Mark Ramsay, comfort women criticism”

In a press release on the 12th, the Korea Freedom Federation said, “As an international NGO organization that obtained the status of special consultation by the UN Economic and Social Council in 2002, John Mark Ramsayer contributed to the International Legal and Economics Review in the Pacific War. Among the contents of the'Sexual Contract' thesis,'comfort women victims voluntarily signed contracts with prostitutes', and other false claims must express serious concern and resentment. Ramsayer's actions have not been recognized by the international community, including the United Nations, after the testimony of survivors of comfort women such as Kim Hak-soon in 1991 and Jan Luf Ohern in 1992, and the academic achievements and agreements of the international community, civic groups and academia on comfort women. He pointed out that it is an international problem that seriously violates the research ethics of writing content based on facts that must be observed in academic papers.” As proof of this, renowned scholars and professors from all over the world who participated in the study of comfort women as soon as Ramsay's thesis was published. Strong criticism was poured on the academic grounds of the Korean Association, the student associations of each university, the US Congressman, and Professor Yuji Hosaka. Nevertheless, Ram Zyer has not withdrawn his false claims, as if he has forsaken his minimal conscience as a scholar. In addition, the “International Law and Economics Review”, which claims to be an international academic journal, is also posting false claims that pretend to be Ramsay's academic papers.”
The Korea Freedom Federation said, “The false allegation that pretends Ramsay's thesis violating research ethics and violating universal agreement between humanity and the international community is no longer an academic paper under the prerogative of'freedom of study' and It pointed out that it was not worthless, unconventional sophistry, and condemned Ramsay's demeanor” with a total of 3.5 million members and 32 overseas branches.
The following is the contents of the four clause statements.
▲ Ramsey fabricates and distorts the grounds of facts to immediately withdraw the false statements that undermine academic integrity.
▲ Ramsey immediately apologizes to the survivors of the comfort women who have suffered damage again through her own remarks.
▲ As an international academic journal, the International Law and Economics Review immediately ceases to publish Ramsay's disregards that are not based on reasonable grounds.
▲ Immediately reflect on the support of Ramsayer's obscurity, Japan's extreme right, and some sympathizers in Korea that turn their backs on the truth of history.
