울진중 박정윤·박정원 학생, 독도사랑 경상북도영어웅변대회 '우수상' 수상

울진중학교(교장 박상수) 박정윤(2학년), 박정원(2학년) 학생이 지난 10월 1일 열린 제 17회 독도사랑 경상북도영어웅변대회에서 ‘우수상’의 영예를 안았다.

27일 울진중학교에 따르면 이번 대회는 경상북도 23개 시·군 학생들이 참여한 비대면 랜선 스피치로 열렸으며 독도사랑을 주제로 일본의 독도 영유권 주장, 독도 지키기 등에 관한 웅변이 펼쳐졌다. 지난 8월 참가 학생 신청서를 접수한 대회 본부는 원고 및 예심 영상 심사(2차)를 거쳐 초등 33명, 중고등 24명을 선발, 최종 57명의 본선 진출을 확정지었다.

박정윤, 박정원 학생은 “대회를 준비하며 독도에 대한 부당한 영유권 주장에 대응하고 우리 땅을 지키고자 하는 마음을 다잡는 시간이 되었다.”며,“발음만 유창한 영어를 넘어 청중의 마음을 움직일 수 있는 메시지를 전달하고 싶다.”고 대회의 소감을 밝혔다.

한편, 이 대회는 다가오는 2022년도부터‘독도사랑 경상북도 외국어스피치대회’로 명칭을 바꿔 영어뿐만 아니라 중국어, 일본어, 러시아어 등 제 2외국어를 포함한 글로벌 스피치대회로 탈바꿈하여 개최될 예정이다.

박상수교장은 “청소년들이 독도가 우리 땅임을 세계에 알리는 훌륭한 홍보대사 역할을 해주어 감사하다.”며,“대회를 통해 독도에 대한 역사적 이해와 더불어 학생들이 창의성과 올바른 인성을 지닌 글로벌 인재로 성장하는 계기가 됐으면 좋겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

According to Uljin Middle School on the 27th, the contest was held as a non-face-to-face LAN speech in which students from 23 cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do participated. The competition headquarters, which received the application form for participating students last August, selected 33 elementary school students and 24 middle and high school students through a video review (second round) of manuscripts and preliminary trials, and finally 57 finalists were confirmed.

Students Park Jeong-yoon and Park Jeong-won said, “Preparing for the competition, it is time to respond to the unfair claims of sovereignty over Dokdo and gather our hearts to protect our land.” I want to deliver a message,” he said.

Meanwhile, from 2022, the name of this contest will be changed to ‘Dokdo Love Gyeongsangbuk-do Foreign Language Speech Contest’ and it will be transformed into a global speech contest that includes not only English but also a second foreign language such as Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.
