지난 26일 한국대학교육협의회(이하 대교협)는 서울 양재동 더케이호텔서울에서 정기총회를 열고, 제26대 회장으로 홍원화 경북대 총장을 선출했다.
신임 홍원화 회장은 1986년 경북대 건축공학과를 졸업하고 일본 와세다대에서 석사와 박사학위를 받았다. 한국연구재단 기초연구본부 공학단장, 대통령소속 국가건축정책위원회 위원, 국민안전처 재난안전기술개발사업단장 등을 지냈으며, 현재 과학기술정보통신부 제4기 기초연구사업추진위원회 위원, 국방부 특별건설기술심의위원회 심의위원 등을 맡고 있다. 2020년 10월부터 제19대 경북대 총장으로 재임 중이다.
