계명대(총장 신일희)가 전국대학 최초로 예비 신입생을 대상으로 독서프로그램 ‘계명 새내기 북’을 운영해 호응을 얻고 있다고 밝혔다.
‘계명 새내기 북’은 예비 신입생들이 입학하기 전 독서 습관을 기르고, 공통된 주제로 학생들과 교수, 직원 등과 함께 토론을 펼쳐 소통의 도구로 활용함과 동시에 공동체 의식을 가질 수 있도록 하기 위한 프로그램이다.
계명대는 이번 프로그램의 계명 새내기 북으로 선정된 ‘세계미래보고서 2022: 메타 사피엔스가 온다’를 선정하였으며 예비 신입생들은 1월 10일부터 해당 도서를 읽고 5월에 개최 예정인 독후감 대회에 참가할 수 있다고 전했다.
5월 독후감 대회를 통해 천만 원 상당의 총상금과 총장 및 도서관장 명의의 상장을 수여하며 수상자에게는 COMpass K 점수도 차등 부여될 예정이다.
이종한 계명대 동산도서관장은 “예비 신입생들이 본 프로그램의 취지를 잘 이해하여 입학 전의 독서 경험을 대학 생활의 밑거름으로 삼고, 입학 후에는 우리 대학교가 2022학년도 신입생부터 교육하는 ‘AI와 컴퓨팅사고’ 및 ‘스마트비즈니스와 창업기초’ 등 교양 필수 교과목 이수는 물론 계명 공동체 의식 함양에도 많은 도움을 받으면 좋겠다.”라고 말했다.
