더불어민주당 대구시당이 ‘50억 클럽’과 관련한 곽상도 전 의원의 구속을 언급하며 대구 중·남구 보궐선거에 대한 국민의힘의 책임정치 실현을 촉구했다.
7일 오전 10시 더불어민주당 대구시당은 기자회견을 개최하고 “곽상도 전 의원의 구속으로 화천대유의 진실이 드러나고 있다.”면서 “대구 중·남구 보궐선거의 책임 또한 명백해졌다.”며 지적에 나섰다.

민주당은 “지난 1월 국민의힘에서도 대구 중·남구는 공천하지 않겠다는 입장을 밝혔지만 국민의힘 예비후보들은 줄줄이 탈당을 선언하며 출마 의지를 굽히지 않고 있다”면서 “이는 곽 전 의원의 구속으로 상처 난 대구시민의 자존심과 명예를 짓밟는 것”이라고 질타했다.
그러면서 “탈당까지 하며 출마를 강행하는 이들의 모습에서 개인의 영달과 안위 외에 그 어떤 것도 떠올릴 수 없다”며 비판을 이어갔다.
더불어민주당 대구시당은 “국민의힘이 상식을 갖춘 정당이라면 중·남구 보궐사태에 대해 무한 책임을 져야 한다.”고 강조하며 “손바닥으로 하늘을 가리는 가짜 무소속 후보들의 셀프 공천에 대해 시민들이 반드시 심판해달라.”며 간곡한 호소를 전했다.
아울러 더불어민주당 권택흥 달서갑 지역위원장은 “현재 국민의힘을 탈당하고 무소속으로 출마를 하려는 분들은 대구에서 국민의힘의 지도부로 큰 역할을 해온 만큼 중·남구 보궐선거에 대한 책임을 져야한다”고 거듭 강조를 이어갔다.
그는 “만약 그분들이 무소속으로 당선이 된다고 한다고 하더라고 국민의힘이 복당 불가를 선언한 상황에서 중·남구의 미래를 봤을 때 2년 간 무소속 의원으로 활동하는 것이 주민들에게 무슨 도움이 되겠나.”면서 “여러 가지를 고려했을 때 무소속 출마를 강행하는 분들을 충분히 컨트롤을 해내는 것 역시도 당이 해야하는 역할”이라고 설명했다.
