브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당은 7일 대선과 지방선거 연이은 패배 이후 당을 수습할 비대위원장으로 '86맏형'격인 우상호 의원을 추대했다.
민주당은 이날 오후 국회에서 의원총회를 열고 이같이 결정하며 선수별로 비상대책위원도 확정했다.
초선 이용우(경기 고양정), 재선 박재호(부산 남구을), 3선 한정애(서울 강서병) 의원을 각각 선임했다. 원외위원장협의회 몫으로 김현정 경기 평택을 지역위원장이 포함됐다. 당연직으로는 박홍근 원내대표를 선임했다.
여성·청년 몫 비대위원도 비대위 인준 후 정할 계획이다.
신현영 대변인은 우상호 비대위원장 선임과 관련 "국회의원 선거 불출마를 선언한 만큼 대선 이후 치우치지 않고 중립적으로 비대위 역할에 있어서 리더십을 발휘할 분이라는 기대가 있었다"며 "국민에게 메시지 등 민주당에 필요한 내용에 대해 전달력이 있는 비대위원장의 역할을 하리라 믿는다"고 설명했다.
신 대변인은 '우 의원도 선거 패배 책임에서 자유롭지 못하다'는 지적엔 "우 의원은 대선 이후 책임에 대해서 곧바로 사퇴했다"면서 "우리 당의 재건에 있어 누가 가장 적임자냐 했을 때 그간 여러 경험을 통해 상황을 잘 이해하고 있고 중진으로 치우치지 않은 분"이라고 강조했다.
우상호 의원은 지난 대선 총괄선대본부장을 맡은 바 있으며 지난 4·7 서울시장 보궐선거에 출마하며 총선 불출마를 선언한 바 있다.
한편 민주당은 이번주 중 당무위원회와 중앙위원회를 차례로 열어 우 위원장을 비롯한 비대위원 임명을 추인하는 절차를 밟을 예정이다.
