브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 농협 경제지주 축산경제는 지난 달 29일(현지시각) 말레이시아 푸트라자야에서 안병우 농협 축산경제대표이사와 압둘 파타 압둘라 말레이시아 협동조합연합회(ANGKASA, 앙카사) 회장 등 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, 젖소정액 수출확대 및 기술교육에 대한 합의각서(MOA)를 체결했다고 1일 밝혔다.
이번 합의각서를 통해 농협은 한국 젖소정액의 말레이시아 내 독점 취급권 부여, 앙카사 전문인력에 대한 교육 프로그램 지원 등 현지 낙농가 생산성 증대를 위해 박차를 가할 계획이다. 또한, 양사는 사료첨가제 공급 등 축산관련 전반으로 협업분야를 확대하기 위해 검토 중이다.
농협경제지주 젖소개량사업소는 우수한 젖소 유전자원의 국내 공급은 물론, 중앙·동남아시아, 아프리카 등으로 수출 대상국을 확대하고 있다. 특히, 전 세계 40여 개국이 참여하는 국제유전능력평가에서 상위 1%내에 랭크되는 등 한국 젖소 유전자원의 우수성을 세계에 입증한 바 있다.
앙카사는 말레이시아 현지 정부가 추진하는 8개 경제분야 거버넌스(농업, 관광, 의료, 금융 등)를 담당하는 최대 협동조합연합회로, 현지 정부 지원을 받아 낙농시범단지를 운영하는 등 현지 낙농산업 발전을 위해 힘쓰고 있다.
안병우 농협 축산경제 대표이사는 “말레이시아 낙농업의 경우 연간 우유 수요량의 95%를 수입에 의존하는 상황”이라며 “농협은 지난 40년 간 축적해 온 국내 젖소 유전자원의 기술력을 토대로 말레이시아에 젖소 정액 공급 및 전문 인력 교육을 실시해 현지 낙농업 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
