세종시가 최민호 시정 첫 투자유치를 이뤄냈다고 밝혔다.
케이티앤지(KT&G)는 지난 26일 세종시와 1,800억 원 투자협약을 체결하고, 세종 미래산업단지 내 담배 관련 인쇄공장을 신설하고 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출에 힘을 모으기로 약속했다.
KT&G는 부지 4만 8583㎡에 인쇄공장을 2025년까지 건립할 계획으로, 투자규모는 근래 최대 규모인 1,800억 원에 달한다. 이번 투자로 220여 개의 새로운 일자리가 창출될 것으로 기대된다.
특히, 이에스지(ESG) 기반위에 ‘지속 가능한 기업 경영’을 모토로 국내 최초 친환경건축인증(LEED 인증) 공장 건립을 시도해 업무 생산성 증대와 근로 만족도를 높일 예정이다

최민호 세종시장은 “세종시에 좋은 기업을 유치해 경제자족도시로 만드는 것이 최우선 목표”라며 “기업의 투자가 잘 이행될 수 있도록 관련 인허가 등 전폭적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 지난해 KT&G 매출액은 5조 2,000억 원으로 전년 대비 3.4% 증가했으며, 코로나19 대유행 2년 동안 사상 최대 매출을 기록했다.
