[브레이크뉴스=정철규기자] 진주시가 6일 남강변 다목적 문화센터 건립 관련 소송의 1심 결과와 관련해 즉각 항소할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
지난해 8월 남강변 다목적 문화센터 건립반대협의회가 진주시장을 상대로 제기한 ‘주거환경개선사업 정비구역지정 및 정비계획(변경) 결정 취소 소송’에서 건립반대협의회의 주장을 일부 받아들였다.
창원지법 제1행정부는 지난 1일 문화시설사업 실시계획 부분을 취소한다고 판결, 센터가 문화복지시설인 관계로 경제성이 다소 부족하고, 800m 거리에 경남문화예술회관이 있어 문화시설 중복 등으로 문화센터 건립이 부적절하다고 판단했다.

시는 이번 판결에서 센터 건립의 필요성이 뚜렷하지 않다고 한 부분에 대해“진주시의 유일한 대공연장인 경남문화예술회관은 코로나19 상황에서도 연중 대관되고 있다”고 토로했다.

진주시 관계자는 “항소심을 통해 원심법원이 부적절하다고 판단한 부분에 대해 성실히 소명할 것이다”며“친화적이고 친환경적인 다목적 문화센터를 건립해 36만 시민들과 지역예술인들의 문화복지 향상에 크게 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
