과천시정보과학도서관이 8일 오후 6시부터 9시까지 중앙공원 분수대 인근에서 시민을 대상으로 천체망원경과 육안으로 개기월식의 전 과정을 관찰하는 개기월식 특별 관측행사를 개최한다.
개기월식이란 달이 지구의 그림자에 가려져서 달이 사라졌다 다시 나타나는 모습이 보이는 희귀 천문현상으로, 태양-지구-달이 일직선으로 정확하게 위치할 때 나타난다.
과천시정보과학도서관은 현장을 찾은 시민을 대상으로 개기월식을 비롯한 천문현상에 대해 E명하고, 누구나 참여할 수 있는 달 모형 만들기 체험 부스를 운영한다. 대형 월면구 포토존도 마련해 시민들이 특별한 추억을 남길 수 있도록 할 계획이다.
이번 월식은 달이 떠오르고 얼마 지나지 않은 저녁 6시 8분부터 달이 지구의 그림자에 들어가며 가려지기 시작해 7시 16분에 지구의 그림자에 완전히 들어가며 붉은색으로 보이게 될 것으로 예상된다.
