평화와 민족통일을 위한 원탁회의가 동학민족통일회(대표 의장 노태구) 주최로 2023년 2월 1일 10시 천도교 중앙대교당에서 열렸다.
주요 참석자로는 평화와 통일을 위해 노력해온 국내외 운동단체의 전 · 현직 대표, 학자와 연구자, 사회원로, 전직 통일부장관과 국회의원, 종교계와 문화예술계, 과학기술계, 기업체, 평화와 통일을 열망하는 일반 시민들이 자리했다. 이 자리에 모인 이들은 “우리가 가진 모든 힘과 지혜를 모아 오늘의 위기를 타개하고 남과 북이 평화롭게 공존하며 함께 번영할 수 있는 길을 열어갈 것”을 결의했다.
이날 출범식은 안승문(동학실천시민행동 상임대표)의 사회로 이우재 전 국회의원의 개회사, 노태구 동학민족통일회 대표상임의장의 평화 민족통일 원탁회의 출범식 취지와 경과보고, 임원 추천, 사업 계획 논의, 분과 위원장 추천, 조직 구성과 역할 분담 순서로 진행됐다.
주요사업 과제로 남과 북의 소통 협력, 평화로운 공존과 통일을 위한 한반도에서 전쟁을 저지하고 평화체제를 구축, 남북 동포들 간에 3통(통행, 통신, 통상)이 현실화할 수 있도록 각별한 노력을 기울여 줄 것을 결의했다. 이를 위해 남북 Korea의 평화와 공존을 가능케 할 국제 정치 여건 조성, 미국의 인식 변화를 촉구, 나아가 세계 모든 나라 국민의 평화와 안녕, 인간다운 삶을 지켜줄 새로운 국제질서 창출을 촉구했다.
평화 민족통일 원탁회의에서 제기된 주요사업 과제로 “동학 정신으로 남과 북의 소통 협력 촉진”, “ 한반도 전쟁 저지, 평화지킴이 1000인 모집”, “3월 1일, 평화와 통일을 위한 구국선언문 발표”, “3월 1일, 전쟁 반대 평화 수호 DMZ 인간 띠잇기” “4월 하순, ‘DMZ 한반도 평화의 새봄맞이 예술제’ 개최”, “한반도 전쟁 종식, 세계평화기원 평화 한류(K-Peace) 거리공연”, “2023 한반도 평화 원년, 7.20~27 평화주간 선포”, “7월 ‘한반도와 세계 평화를 위한 DMZ 글로벌 포럼 개최”, “ ‘DMZ를 세계 평화의 성지’로 선포하고 추진준비”, “평화로운 국제질서를 만들어갈 새로운 국제연대 기구(가칭) ’세계 평화회의‘ 추진”, “세계 잼버리 대회 참가자 ‘한반도 평화기원 선언’ 등이다.
평화 민족통일 원탁회의 출범식 및 내외신 기자회견의 핵심내용은 “원탁회의 출범 선언문”(안승문, 동학실천시민행동 상임대표)이 발표되었고, 이요상(동학실천시민행동 상임대표)의 “한(조선)반도 평화와 민족통일을 위한 구국 선언문” 낭독, 노정선(연세대 명예교수)의 “한(조선)반도 평화와 민족통일을 위한 구국 선언문(영문)”으로 이어졌다.

A roundtable meeting for peace and national unification was held at 10 p.m. on February 1, 2023, hosted by the Donghak National Unification Association (CEO Roh Tae-gu).
Major participants included former and incumbent representatives of domestic and foreign activist groups, scholars and researchers, social workers, former unification ministers and lawmakers, religious and cultural, technological, businesses, and ordinary citizens eager for peace and unification. Those gathered at the meeting resolved, "We will gather all our strength and wisdom to overcome today's crisis and open the way for the South and the North to coexist peacefully and prosper together."
The opening ceremony was hosted by Ahn Seung-moon, former National Assemblyman Lee Woo-jae, the chairman of Donghak National Unification Association Roh Tae-koo, and the purpose and progress of the launch of the Peaceful National Unification Roundtable, executive recommendation, business plan discussion, subcommittee chairman recommendation, organization and role sharing.
As a major project task, it decided to make special efforts to prevent war and establish a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula for communication cooperation between the two Koreas, peaceful coexistence and unification, and to make three communication (traffic, communication, and trade) a reality. To this end, he called for the creation of international political conditions that will enable peace and coexistence between South and North Korea, for a change in the perception of the United States, and for the creation of a new international order that will protect the peace and well-being of the people of all countries.
Major projects raised at the Peaceful National Unification Roundtable were "promoting communication and cooperation between the South and the North in the spirit of Donghak," "Preventing war on the Korean Peninsula, recruiting 1,000 peacekeepers," "March 1, "March 1, DMZ Peace and New Spring Art Festival for the Korean Peninsula," and "July Peace Week."They include the promotion of the World Peace Conference, a large organization (tentative name), and the Declaration of Peace on the Korean Peninsula, a participant in the World Jamboree Competition.
At the launch ceremony of the Peaceful National Unification Roundtable and press conference, the "Declaration of the Establishment of the Roundtable" (Ahn Seung-moon, Permanent Representative of Donghak Citizens' Action) was announced, followed by Lee Yo-sang's "Declaration of the Rescue for Peace and National Unification on the Korean Peninsula" (Yon-generation Honorary Professor).
