안양시가 2025년 4월 준공을 목표로 ‘석수 체육관’ 공사를 지난달 28일 시작했다고 5월 3일 밝혔다.
석수체육관은 석수2동 행정복지센터 옆 주차장 부지에 지하 2층~지상 5층에 연면적 7932㎡ 규모로 건설된다.
석수체육관은 호계다목적체육관, 박달복합청사에 이어 관내 세 번째 실내 체육관이다.
체육관에는 만안구에서 두 번째로 생기는 수영장을 비롯해, 다용도 프로그램실, 다목적 체육관, 마을공방, 지하주차장 등이 들어설 예정이다.
기존의 주차장은 신축되는 체육관의 지하 1, 2층과 지상에 80대 규모로 조성된다.
건축 디자인은 설계 공모를 통해 ‘사랑채’ 콘셉트의 설계 최종안이 선정됐다.
안양시는 석수체육관이 시민들이 보다 편리하게 체육활동을 즐기고 운동 시설 뿐 아니라 복지, 소통, 치유의 공간을 제공해 ‘소통의 거점시설’이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
최대호 안양시장은 “앞으로도 시민들의 가까운 곳에 건강을 지키고 여가 생활을 누릴 수 있는 다양한 공간을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
