희망브리지가 일본지사를 개소하며 재난 예방·대응 역량 강화에 나섰다.
희망브리지 전국재해구호협회(회장 송필호)는 일본 간세이 가쿠인 대학에서 재난 연구 및 재난 대응 거점 역할을 할 일본지사 개소식을 가졌다고 12일 밝혔다.
일본지사장으로 임명된 야마 요시유키(Yama Yoshiyuki) 교수는 간세이 가쿠인 대학 재해부흥제도연구소 소장(간세이 가쿠인 대학 인간복지학부 교수)으로 재난부흥, 방재마을만들기 분야의 권위자이다. 희망브리지와는 지난 2021년부터 한·일 재해구호 국제세미나를 개최하는 등 지속적으로 협력해 왔다.
개소식에는 희망브리지 전국재해구호협회 송필호 회장, 대한불교조계종 총무원 사회복지재단 보인 대표이사, 희망브리지 김정희 사무총장, 배천직 재난대응본부장 등이 참석했다.
희망브리지 일본지사는 재난 및 구호 분야의 다양한 연구 활동과 한·일 양국 등 국제 협력체계를 구축·강화할 계획이다.
희망브리지 송필호 회장은 “재난 관리 선진국으로 평가받는 일본에서의 지사 개소로 재난·구호 분야에서 보다 심도있는 연구가 이루어질 것으로 기대한다” 며, “올해 전국 5개 권역 지사를 설립한 데 이어 글로벌 진출의 교두보를 마련한 희망브리지는 지속적으로 역할을 확장해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 간세이 가쿠인 대학이 위치한 일본 고베지역은 1995년 1월 규모 7.3의 대지진이 발생하여 5만여 명의 사상자가 발생하였고, 과거에도 수많은 화재와 지진으로 많은 인명 피해를 본 지역이다. 현재는 재난을 대비한 안전한 도시를 만들기 위해 방재센터 등 사람들에 재난 인식을 높이기 위해 노력하고 있다.
1961년 설립 이후 62년 만에 전국 지사 설치·운영을 본격화한 희망브리지는 지난 2월 광주전남, 부산울산경남, 대구경북, 인천, 경기북부 등 5개 지사를 운영할 지사장과 사무국장을 임명했으며 최근 각 지사의 개소를 모두 마무리했다. 더불어 희망브리지는 지역에서의 구호·모금 역량을 보다 강화하기 위하여 강원과 경기남부, 충청권역에도 지사 설치를 추진 중이다.
희망브리지 전국재해구호협회는 신문사와 방송사, 사회단체가 힘을 모아 설립한 순수 민간단체이자 국내 자연재해 피해 구호금을 지원할 수 있는 유일한 법정 구호단체다. 설립 이후 현재까지 1조 6천억 원의 성금을 누적 지원했으며 6천만 점 이상의 구호물품을 지원했다.
특히 공익법인 평가기관인 한국가이드스타가 발표하는 공익법인 투명성, 재무안정성 평가에서 5년 연속 최고등급을 받는 등 국민 성금을 투명하게 배분하며 집행해 높은 신뢰를 받고 있다.
