15일 경주시에 따르면 청년마을 공유주거 조성 사업은 지방 청년들의 유출 방지와 도시 청년들의 지역 정착을 지원하는 청년 마을 만들기의 후속으로 지역 살이 프로그램에 참여한 외부 청년들의 주거 공간이 부족하다는 의견을 반영해 청년 공유주거 시설을 지원하는 사업이다.
행안부는 청년마을이 조성된 전국 36개 시·군을 대상으로 공모를 진행해 서면심사와 현지실사를 거쳐 경주를 포함한 5개 지역을 최종 선정했다.
경주시는 기획 단계부터 청년들이 공동 참여해 청년친화성, 실현가능성, 사전 준비성에서 두루 높은 점수를 받았다.
시는 시비 10억 원을 포함해 총 20억 원의 예산을 들여 2025년까지 청년마을 만들기 사업을 하고 있는 감포읍 전촌리 일대에 원룸형 숙소, 공용주방, 공용오피스, 오픈카페 등으로 구성된 청년 공유주거시설을 조성한다.
특히 생활편의시설, 휘트니스 시설, 취미·문화 활동 등 청년들의 공유주거에 유용한 공간을 조성해 청년들이 안정적인 정착기반을 마련하고 취·창업을 준비할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.
주낙영 시장은 “청년마을 공유주거 사업이 청년인구 유입에 선도적 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다”며 “이번 공유주거 조성지는 단순 숙소기 아닌 청년 친화공간으로의 역할을 할 수 있도록 정주여건 개선에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
