텔레그램 뉴스가 세계의 눈과 귀가 되어가는 느낌이다. 모스크바 턱밑까지 진입한 바그너 그룹(PMC) 수장 프리고진이 극적인 타협으로 철수 후 종적이 없는 행방을 쫓는 세계 주요 뉴스를 지켜보면서 절감한 느낌이다.
등록 부호 RA-02795의 브라질 엠브라에르사의 상업용 제트 전용기 레거시 600이 현지 시각 오전 7시 40분경 벨라루스 수도 민스크 근처 마출리시치 공군 비행장에 착륙하면서 텔레그램 뉴스 채널이 부산하였다. 프리고진 전용기로도 알려진 항공기는 2019년 미국 해외자산통제국(OFAC) 특별지정 제재 대상(SDN) 항공기로 러시아에서 재등록 부호가 발급된 것으로 알려졌다.
이후 18분 후에 바그너 그룹(PMC) 본거지인 상트페테르부르크에서 출발한 등록 번호 RA-125의 또 다른 비즈니스 제트기가 착륙하면서 다양한 텔레그램 뉴스 채널에서 쏟아지는 추정과 내용 또한 각각이었다. 물론 이와 같은 뉴스들은 항공기 추적 웹사이트 플라이트레이더24에 바탕을 두었던 내용으로 누구나 감지하고 있는 내용이었다. 뉴스는 풍성하였지만. 바그너 그룹(PMC) 수장 프리고진이 명확하게 탑승한 사실은 하나도 밝혀지지 않았다.
하루 전인 26일 현지 시각 오후 7시 무렵부터 텔레그램 뉴스 채널에 긴급한 내용이 떠돌았다, 벨라루스 동부 마힐료프주 오시포비치에 바그너 용병 그룹 캠프가 건설되고 있다는 뉴스였다. 특히 바그너 용병 그룹 가족 텔레그램 채팅창을 인용하며 구체적인 내용을 열거하여 출처를 헤아려보니 친우크라이나 채널에서 시작된 뉴스였다.

전쟁 이후 전면 통제 되면서 언론의 생명인 신속 보도와 비판이 자취를 감춘 사실은 러시아 언론을 주시한 이들이면 깊게 공감할 것이다. 필자는 수도 모스크바 200km 지점까지 반란군이 돌진한 일촉즉발 사태가 가능한 것은 바로 사실을 보도하고 문제를 헤아리는 언론의 주요한 기능을 통제한 바탕에서 생겨난 문제로 생각한다.
