한국도로공사 대전충남본부가 지난 10일 휴게소 이용객을 대상으로 쓰레기 무단투기 방지 캠페인을 전개했다.
이번 캠페인은 올바른 쓰레기 배출방법 및 감량실천 방안에 대한 홍보를 통해 고속도로에서 쓰레기 발생을 줄이기 위해 추진됐다.
도로공사측에 따르면 최근 엔데믹 이후 고속도로 휴게소 내 쓰레기가 크게 증가하고 있다. 지난해 휴게소 내 발생한 쓰레기량은 총 1만7천톤으로 코로나 이전인 2019년 대비 약 30% 증가했고, 연 49억원의 처리비용이 소요되고 있는 실정이다.
대전충남본부는 옥천군 자원봉사단체인 안전보안관과 함께하는 플로깅 행사를 경부선 금강(부산방향)휴게소를 시작으로, 쓰레기 무단투기로 인한 비용증가 및 환경오염, 과태료 부과사항 등을 알리기 위한 사진전을 서울방향인 신탄진 휴게소와 죽암 휴게소 등에서도 실시해 생활쓰레기 휴게소 투기방지를 계도할 예정이다.
휴게소 내 생활쓰레기 무단투기 적발 시 최대 100만원의 과태료가 부과될 수 있으며, 누구나 안전신문고를 통해 신고가 가능하다.
