세종시의회 ‘세종형 교육자유특구 조성 위한 연구모임(대표의원 이소희)’ 회원들은 20일 하태경 국회의원실을 방문해 고등교육법 일부개정법률안 개정안 내용과 세종시 교육 현안에 대한 발전 방안에 대해 논의했다.
연구모임 회원들은 이날 방문을 통해 하태경 국회의원이 준비 중인 IB교육 정시 도입 법안 등에 대하여 논의하는 시간을 가졌다. IB교육이란 IB(International Bacalaureat) 국제바칼로레아기구에서 개발하여 운영하는 국제표준 교육과정이자 대입 시험이다.
회원들은 아울러 대학입시에서 IB성적을 참고하여 신입생을 선발할 수 있도록 근거를 마련하기 위한 ‘고등교육법 일부개정법률안’도 청취했다. 청취 이후에는 전국적인 IB도입 실태 파악 등 다양한 교육 현안에 대해 개선 과제, 기관별 협력 방안 등을 논의했다.
이소희 대표의원은 “미래 교육을 위한 인재 양성은 자기 소질 및 적성과 관련한 대입제도 연계가 필수다. 그만큼 국제사회 변화에 따라 교육정책이 발맞추어 발전을 이끌 수 있도록 다양한 교육 제도를 발굴하기 위해 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이에 하태경 의원은 “세종특별자치시가 현재 교육 관련 정책의 기획을 모색해야 하는 시점인 만큼 앞으로 세종시는 물론 대한민국 교육 발전과 번영에 협력하겠다”고 화답했다.
