고양소방서는 9일 화재가 발생한 현장에서 초기 소화활동과 신속한 화재 상황 전파로 시민의 인명과 재산을 보호하는데 기여한 민간인 유공자에게 표창장을 수여했다.
표창 유공자는 DMC디에트르한강 입주자대표 이진원(남/43세)씨로 지난 7월 25일 오전 9시 7분경 덕양구 덕은동의 아파트 지하주차장 발전기실에서 검은 연기와 불꽃을 목격 후 소화기를 이용해 초기 진화에 나섰고 아파트 주민들에게 화재 사실을 알리는 등 인명피해 방지에 크게 기여했다.

당시 화재는 대처가 늦었다면 자칫 대형화재로 확대돼 큰 피해가 발생할수 있는 상황이었으나 이씨의 신속한 초기진화로 큰 피해 없이 진압됐다.
이날 표창장을 받은 이진원씨는 “눈 앞에 화재를 발견하고 당연한 일을 했을 뿐인데 표창까지 받게 돼 기쁘다”고 말했다.
정요안 서장은 “화재 현장에서 침착한 초기 대응으로 화재피해도 막고 소중한 인명을 지킬 수 있었다”며 “고양소방서 모든 직원의 마음을 담아 감사 드린다”고 전했다.[고양=박정호 기자]
