매일경제신문과 기획재정부, 과기부 등이 후원하는 경영대상은 뛰어난 행정전략과 과감한 도전으로 각 분야에서 우수한 성과를 보인 기관과 기업을 선정해 시상하는 제도이다.
시는 △ESG경영 모범도시 실천 로드맵 설정 △탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포식 △경주 그린뉴딜 천년숲길 조성 등 사업 추진 △탄소중립 시민 실천운동 등의 공로를 인정받았다.
시는 ESG 경영 모범도시를 체계적으로 실현하고자 경주형ESG 실행계획 및 지표를 발굴했다.
현재 환경경영(Environment)분야 56건, 사회적 책임(Social) 분야 59건, 건전하고 투명한 지배구조(Governance)분야 27건 등 총 142건의 세부 실천과제를 수립했다.
제54회 지구의 날에 맞춰 오는 22일에는 ‘탄소중립 실천 선도도시 선포식’을 개최한다. 이를 통해 최첨단 미래 도시 이미지는 물론 친환경 도시 ‘경주’의 이미지를 전 세계인들에게 각인시킨다.
특히 올해 주요업무 계획을 통해 △신재생에너지 보급·지원(41억원) △경주 그린뉴딜 천년숲길 조성(665억원) △친환경자동차 보급(93억원) △전기차 충전시설 구축(60억원) 등의 실천방안을 내놨다.
또 탄소중립 실천에 실질적인 성과를 달성하기 위해 ‘탄소중립 시민 실천운동’도 펼치고 있다.
탄소중립 실천 서약서와 리스트를 시민들에게 배부하면서 시민 대상 실천방법 홍보는 물론 시민들의 실천의지를 보다 확고히 할 방침이다.
더불어 사회적 책임 분야 중 경주시가 지난해 행정안전부 주관으로 제15회 다산목민대상에 선정되면서 받은 1000만원 포상금을 주택화재로 부상을 입은 고려인 동포 모녀에게 전달한 기부금은 모범 사례로 평가됐다.
시는 향후 단계별 지속가능경영(ESG) 컨설팅 추진으로 사업을 보다 내실 있게 추진하고 포럼 개최 등을 통해 지역 기업의 지속가능경영 인식을 널리 알리고 자발적인 참여 분위기를 확산할 계획이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “ESG 가치가 전 세계적으로 확산되면서 선택이 아닌 생존과 성장의 핵심적인 요소로 부상했다”며 “오늘 수상을 계기로 시정 전 분야에 대해 ESG 범주 내 정책을 다시 한 번 재정립해 안전·환경 등 전 분야에 걸쳐 주요업무에 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
