과천시 전통예술단, 지역 대표 예술단체 육성 지원사업 공모 선정

‘과천시 전통예술단’이 문화체육관광부가 주관하는 2024년 지역 대표 예술단체 육성 지원사업 공모에 최종 선정돼 국비 1억1,000만 원을 확보했다.

과천시 전통예술단(대표 임정자)은 한국경기소리보존회, 줄타기보존회, 과천무동답교놀이보존회 등이 전통예술을 계승하고 활성화하기 위해 함께 신설한 민간예술단체.

이번 공모는 문체부에서 전국 지방자치단체를 대상으로 음악, 전통예술, 무용, 연극 등 4개 분야의 우수한 예술단체를 선정하여 공연 창·제작에 필요한 사업비를 지원하는 사업으로, 전국 42개 단체가 선정돼 지난 8월 23일 국립현대미술관 서울관에서 인증서 수여식이 진행됐다.

과천시 전통예술단은 다음달부터 본격적인 운영에 나서며, 1935년 과천에서 창단해 전국을 배경으로 활동했던 전통예술 가무악단인 ‘대동가극단’을 콘텐츠로 하는 창작공연을 제작해 올해 11월과 내년 2월에 ‘대동가극단의 귀환’을 주제로 공연을 선보일 예정.

예술단은 경기도 무형유산인 ‘경기소리’와 ‘과천무동답교놀이’, 국가무형유산인 ‘줄타기’ 등을 중심으로 과천의 고유성을 살린 다양한 전통예술 콘텐츠를 개발해 지역 문화·예술 활성화에 힘쓸 계획이다.

‘Gwacheon City Traditional Arts Troupe’ was finally selected for the 2024 regional representative arts group development support project competition hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, securing 110 million won in national funds.

Gwacheon City Traditional Arts Troupe (Representative Lim Jeong-ja) is a private arts group newly established by the Korea Gyeonggi Sound Preservation Society, the Tightrope Preservation Society, and the Gwacheon Mudong Dapgyo Play Preservation Society to inherit and revitalize traditional arts.

This competition is a project where the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selects excellent arts groups in four fields, including music, traditional arts, dance, and theater, from local governments nationwide and supports the necessary business expenses for performance creation and production. 42 groups nationwide were selected, and a certificate award ceremony was held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul on August 23.
