대통령실이 8일 "내년도 의대 정원에 대한 재논의는 불가능하다"고 밝혔다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 "2025학년도 경우 이미 입시 절차가 진행 중"이라며 이같이 말했다. 2025학년도 수시 원서 접수가 임박한 상황에서 당장 내년 의대 증원 계획을 백지화하는 건 현실적이지 않다는 취지다.
그러면서 "2026년도 정원에 대해선 2000명이란 숫자에 구애받지 않고 접근한다는 게 입장"이라며 "2000명이란 숫자 고집이 전혀 아니니 합리적 안을 갖고 논의하자는 것으로 선언적으로 0명으로 하자는 건 좀 아니지 않나"라고 밝혔다.
