종합화학 기업인 KCC가 ESG 경영의 일환으로 주거환경 개선사업 지원에 나섰다. 도료·건자재 분야 업(業)과 연계한 사회공헌 활동에 공을 들이고 있다.
KCC 전주공장은 9월 26일 전북 완주군과 ‘숲으로 따뜻한 집 만들기’ 사업 협약식을 체결했다고 9월 27일 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 김태근 KCC 전주2공장장, 유희태 완주군수, 백청열 완주군지역사회보장협의체 위원장을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석하여 MOU 체결식을 가지고, 사업의 구체적인 추진 방향을 논의했다.
KCC는 이번 협약을 통해, 연초에 전북사회복지공동모금회에 기탁한 5천만 원의 성금을 활용하여 지역사회 내 경제적 어려움을 겪고 있는 가정의 주거환경 개선에 기여할 예정이다.
KCC 건축자재 등 활용한 환경 개선 활동인 ‘숲으로 따뜻한 집 만들기’는 KCC의 친환경 수성 페인트 ‘숲으로’를 생산하는 전주공장의 주거환경 개선에 대한 의지를 담은 ESG 활동이다.
KCC는 ESG 경영의 일환으로 기업의 사회적 책임을 적극 실천하고 있다. 특히, '업(業) 연계형’ 사회공헌 활동을 지속적으로 이어가고 있다.
이번에 추진된 완주군과의 MOU 역시 이러한 사회공헌 활동의 일환으로, 이웃 주민들이 안전하고 쾌적한 환경에서 생활하며 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있도록 돕기 위해 추진되었다.
KCC 김태근 공장장은 “민관이 협력하여 더불어 살아가는 공동체를 만들고자 하는 이번 사업에 참여하여 안전하고 따뜻한 주거환경을 조성하는데 힘을 보탤 수 있어 뜻깊은 일”이라며 “전주공장은 지역 소외계층 지원 사업에 동참해 사회적 책임을 다하기 위해 지속적으로 노력할 것이며, 지역사회와의 상생도 적극적으로 추진할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
KCC는 국토교통부의 노후주택 개선사업인 ‘새뜰마을’, 서울시의 저층주거지개선사업인 ‘온동네 숲으로’, 서초구의 주거환경 개선사업인 ‘반딧불 하우스’ 등 다양한 지역 상생 사업을 지원하고 있다.
KCC Jeonju Plant Supports Residential Environment Improvement Project

KCC, a global chemical company, has started supporting residential environment improvement projects as part of its ESG management. KCC is committed to social contribution activities linked to its business in the paint and building materials sector.
On September 26, KCC Jeonju Plant announced that it signed an agreement with Wanju County, Jeollabuk-do, on September 27 for the 'Creating Warm Homes with Forests' project.
Kim Tae-geun, President of KCC Jeonju Plant 2, Yoo Hee-tae, Mayor of Wanju-gun, Baek Cheong-yeol, Chairman of Wanju-gun Community Security Council, and other officials attended the MOU signing ceremony and discussed the specific direction of the project.
Through this agreement, KCC will contribute to improving the living environment of families experiencing economic difficulties in the community by utilizing KRW 50 million donated to the Jeonbuk Social Welfare Foundation at the beginning of the year.
'Making a Warm Home with Forest', an environmental improvement activity utilizing KCC building materials, is an ESG activity that reflects KCC's commitment to improving the residential environment at its Jeonju plant, which produces KCC's eco-friendly water-based paint 'Forest'.
KCC is actively practicing corporate social responsibility as part of its ESG management. In particular, it continues to carry out 'industry-linked' social contribution activities.
The MOU with Wanju-gun is one of these social contribution activities, which aims to help local residents live in a safe and comfortable environment and improve their quality of life.
“It is meaningful to be able to participate in this project, which aims to create a community where the public and private sectors work together, and help create a safe and warm living environment,” said Kim Tae-geun, Plant Manager of KCC. ”The Jeonju Plant will continue to strive to fulfill its social responsibility by participating in projects to support the underprivileged in the region and actively promote coexistence with the local community.”
KCC is supporting various local coexistence projects, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport's 'New Garden Village,' a project to improve old houses, Seoul's low-rise residential improvement project, 'Ondongne Forest Road,' and Seocho-gu's 'Firefly House,' a residential environment improvement project.
