지난 10월 18일 오후 2시 서울시 강남구 삼성동에 소재한 코엑스 3F 오디토리움에서 대한적십자사 창립 119주년 기념식이 열렸다, 한덕수 국무총리와 박민수 보건복지부 제2차관을 비롯해 김철수 대한적십자사 회장과 적십자 임직원 그리고 유관인사 등 1천여 명이 참석하였다.
행사에서는 재난 구호와 사회봉사, 기부, 헌혈 등 인도주의 활동을 실천해 온 30명에게 정부포상이 수여되었다. 43년 동안 지역사회 복지 증진에 헌신한 임영자 적십자 봉사원과 37년간 누적 기부액 43억 원을 기록한 김영자 승산나눔재단 이사장, 그리고 1973년부터 749회 헌혈 활동을 한 황의선 헌혈자 등이 국민 훈장을 받은 것이다.

또한, 홍라희 전 삼성미술관 리움 관장은 대한적십자사 김철수 회장으로부터 인도주의 이념 구현과 적십자 사업 발전에 공헌한 의미를 담은 '적십자 인도장 금장'을 받았다. 나아가 자원봉사와 청소년적십자 활동 등을 통해 국민의 건강과 생명 보호에 이바지한 43,722명에게 적십자 포장과 표창이 수여되었다.
한덕수 국무총리는 축사에서 ‘적십자는 119년 동안 위급할 때 항시 우리 곁에 있었으며 119처럼 재난 현장에서 봉사활동을 펴온 헌신의 아이콘이었다면서 과학이 발전해도 사람의 손길이 해결할 수 있는 재난 구호의 힘든 일을 앞으로도 계속 부탁한다고 요청하였다.
김철수 대한적십자사 회장은 기념사에서 대한적십자사 창립 119주년을 맞아 적십자 역사상 처음으로 정부 훈포장을 수여하는 매우 뜻깊은 기념식임을 알렸다. 지난해 8월 취임한 김철수 회장이 적십자 운동에 헌신해 온 800만 대한적십자사 가족의 소중함을 정부에 건의하여 성사된 것이다.

김철수 회장은 이번 포상이 대한적십자사의 위상과 적십자 가족들의 자부심을 높일 것이라면서 여러분의 헌신과 노력으로 이루어진 적십자 119주년의 역사를 되새기며 우리는 미래를 향해 앞으로 나아가야 한다고 말하였다.
안양지구협의회(회장 이점숙)는 대한적십자사 창립 119주년 기념식에 참석하였다. 대한적십자사 경기도지사 안양에 있는 중앙봉사관(관장 채삼병)에서 군포, 의왕, 과천 지구협의회 봉사원들과 함께 봉사관 제공 45인승 버스를 타고 삼성동 코엑스로 이동하여 기념식에 참석했다.

In addition, former director of the Samsung Museum of Art Leeum Hong Ra-hee received the ‘Red Cross Medal of Merit Gold’ from Chairman Kim Cheol-soo of the Korean Red Cross for her contribution to the implementation of humanitarian ideology and the development of the Red Cross project.
