기독교, 유태교, 이슬람교를 통틀에 아브라함 계통의 종교(Abrahamic religions)라 하고 세 종교는 형제의 종교로 인식하고 있다. 그런데 한국에서는 이런 주장을 하면 기독교 측은 맹렬히 비난한다. 특히 이슬람은 아브라함의 자손이 아니며 자신들이 믿고 있는 신(神)이 다르다는 것이다. 나는 그게 참 이해가 안 됐다. 전 세계 모든 나라들, 미국의 일부 보수주의 개신교를 제외히고는 세 종교가 형제의 종교고 그 뿌리가 아브라함이라 보고 있는 이는 상식이다.
한국만 이것은 새빨간 거짓말에 허구의 거짓이라고 한다. 참 희한한 나라의 기독교인들이다. 이스라엘이나 그 근처의 국가들에서 이런 주장을 해봐라. 바보 소리 듣기 딱 알맞다. 이스라엘 현지에서도 그렇게 싸워도 형제의 종교에 그 뿌리는 아브라함이라 인정하는데 한국의 보수적인 기독교인들은 바뀌려 하지 않는다. 왜냐면 형제가 아니고 신이 달라야 무슬림들을 척결하는데 있어 정당성이 생기기 때문이다. 그리고 그들 한국 교인들은 이를 정당화 해야 이교도들을 소탕하는데 있어 죄의식을 갖지 않는다.
그런데 유태인들은 형제로 인정한다. 바리새인 등 유태인들은 경멸하고 꾸짖었던 것이 바로 예수고, 그런 예수를 빌라도의 로마인들에게 고발했던 것도 유태인들이었다. 예수를 십자가에 못박은 것은 로마인들이었지만 그를 죽게 내몬 자들은 유태인들이다. 예수와 하나님과 성령은 하나라는 삼위일체를 믿는 자들이 기독교인들인데 그 사람으로 변해서 하늘에 내려온 기독교의 신(神)인 예수를 죽인 것도 유태인이고, 예수를 메시아이자 신(神)으로 부정하는 것도 유태인이다. 내가 이해가 가지 않는 것은 한국의 기독교인들은 그런 유태인들을 형제로 여기고 팔레스타인-이스라엘 전쟁에서 이스라엘과 유태인들을 응원하고 있다.
유태교는 예수를 신(神)으로 여기지 않으며 유태인들은 오히려 그를 죽음으로 내몰았던 사람들이다. 그런데 그들과 형제고 그들을 왜 응원하는 것인가? 그리고 이슬람을 경계한다. 그런데 이슬람은 예수를 부정하지 않는다. 예수를 모세, 무함마드와 더불어 가장 위대한 3대 예언자로 여긴다. 심지어 <꾸란>이나 <하디스>에도 예수를 부정하거나 비난하는 글귀는 없다.
모든 문서의 근거와 증거는 아브라함 안에 형제라는 것으로 인정하고 있다. 그런데도 이슬람은 꾸라이쉬 부족이 섬겼던 카바를 숭배하고 그들을 신이라 주장하며 달의 신을 모신다고 <꾸란>의 기록을 가져와서 근거랍시고 주장하는데 이는 <꾸란>의 기록을 잘못 오역한 것이다. 본래 이슬람에서 보다는 달의 의미는 선지자 무함마드가 알라 하나님으로부터 최초의 계시를 받을 때 초승달과 샛별이 떠 있었던 것에서 유래한다. 그래서, 그 때부터 하느님의 진리가 인간에게 전해지기 시작했다는 의미로 초승달을 징표로 중시한다.
그런데 이슬람이 그렇게 인정하고 있는데 한국의 기독교 만이 지멋대로 해석하고 있다. 물론 중동 국가들이 무함마드의 출현으로 이슬람 문화권이 되기 전에 분명 유일신 알라가 아닌 다신교적 문화 아래 있었다. 그때 중동에서는 달을 신성시 여기며 달의 신을 섬겼다는 기록이 있긴 하지만 그 달과 알라는 분명히 다른 존재인데 자기 맘대로 해석하는 한국의 기독교 목사들이 문제다. 왜 그런 것일까?
무슬림들의 교세가 전 세계 인구 20억을 넘어가고 있다. 이제 조만간 기독교 인구를 뛰어넘을 것으로 전망하고 있다. 그러니 기독교 입장에서는 교세가 축소된다는 위기감이 돌기 시작했고 이슬람을 공격해서 세를 꺾어야 할 필요가 있다. 그러면서 과격 원리주의자 무슬림들의 테러를 중점적으로 부각시키며 이슬람을 테러주의자로 모함한다. 그러나 여태까지 집단 서방이 기독교를 내세워 타 국가들을 식민지로 삼으며 학살했던 것에 비하면 현대 이슬람의 테러는 "새 발의 피"에 불과하다.
한국의 기독교 목사들이 무슬림 확장세에 극도로 경계하는 것은 그들의 세가 불어나면 헌금의 세가 줄어드는 위험이 있기 때문이다. 그만큼 한국의 기독교 인구도 줄어들고 신도들이 바치는 헌금으로 운영하는 사설 교회들은 재정 적자를 면치 못하게 된다. 말 그대로 옛 말인 "영보금"이 줄어들어 줄도산의 위험이 있을까봐 목숨 걸고 반대하는 것이다. 특히 대형교회들의 경우, 신도들의 돈으로 그동안 호의호식했던 먹사들의 발등에 불이 떨어지는 것이니 이슬람의 한국 유입에 대해 대동단결 할 수밖에 없는 것이다.
아브라함의 무릎에 유대인, 그리스도인, 무슬림이 함께 앉아 있는 12세기, 프랑스 Souvigny 성경 사본의 세밀화를 보라. 이미 오래 전부터 인정하여 확정된 논란을 한국만 아무런 근거없이 인정하지 않고 있다. 거짓이라고만 하지 말고 근거를 내세우라고 요청하면 "믿음 없이는 하나님의 역사를 볼 수 없다. 인류역사는 그분의 사역 이야기이다. 인류 구원 경영 역사" 와 같은 현실 근거와 전혀 동떨어진 이야기만 하고 있다. 이런건 영적인 것보다 이성적인 근거를 원하는 사람들에게 하등 도움이 되지 않는 답변이다. 그냥 차라리 돈 떨어질까 무서워서 인정 못하겠다고 솔직히 말하는 것이 좋다. 그러면 이해라도 할 수 있다.
