[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 김해시가 환경부 주관 2024년 탄소중립포인트제 운영 평가에서 최우수 지자체로 선정됐다고 13일 밝혔다.
탄소중립포인트제는 전기, 수도, 도시가스 등 에너지 사용량 절감 실적에 따라 현금 등의 인센티브를 제공하는 전 국민 온실가스 감축 실천제도로 환경부는 제도 활성화를 위해 2022년부터 우수 지자체를 선정하고 있다.
시는 시행 첫해인 2022년 최우수, 2023년 우수 지자체로 선정된 데 이어 올해 또 다시 최우수 지자체에 선정됐다.
지난 12일 서울 LW컨벤션에서 열린 탄소중립포인트제 지자체 담당 공무원 워크숍에서 시는 최우수 지자체 현판을 수여받고 담당공무원은 환경부 장관상을 수상했으며 ‘시민과 함께하는 탄소중립포인트제’를 주제로 우수 사례를 발표했다.
평가 항목은 제도 참여자 수, 온실가스 감축량, 제도 활성화를 위한 노력 등이다.
시는 제도 활성화를 위해 올해부터 새롭게 매월 22일을 ‘2배로 2로운 탄소중립포인트 가입의 날’로 정해 대형마트, 전통시장, 기업체 등을 찾아가 탄소중립포인트 가입을 유도하고 SNS 게시물 등 다양한 방법으로 홍보했다.
시에서 개최하는 지역 축제, 행사장에 가입 부스를 운영하고 분기별로 ‘신규 가입 SNS 이벤트’를 마련했다.
또 김해시 탄소중립생활 실천대회 등 각종 대내외 평가 시 평가항목에 탄소중립포인트 가입률을 포함하는 등 탄소중립포인트 가입률 증대를 위한 다양한 노력이 높은 평가를 받았다.
시 탄소중립포인트 가입 가구 수는 현재 4만3,478가구로 지난해 대비 2,485가구 증가했으며 지난 한 해 동안 온실가스를 1만4,417t 감축하는 성과를 냈다.
탄소중립포인트에 가입하려면 탄소중립포인트제 누리집에서 회원 가입하거나 가까운 읍·면·동 행정복지센터 또는 시청 기후대응과를 방문해 신청서를 제출하면 된다.
시 관계자는 “시민들의 동참 덕분에 3년 연속 수상이라는 좋은 성과를 냈다”며 “탄소중립도시 조성을 위해 보다 많은 시민이 탄소중립포인트제도에 관심을 가져주시기를 바란다”고 말했다.
