대전맹학교(교장 문성준)는 영아와 유치원과정 시각장애 아동들이 대전목재문화체험장에서 가을의 아름다움을 경험하고, 신체의 오감을 깨우는 현장 체험 학습을 진행했다고 25일 밝혔다.
이번 체험학습은 시각장애 영·유아들이 목재문화체험관의 다양한 프로그램에 참여하며, 자신에게 주어진 감각들을 활용해 자연 환경과 직접 상호작용하면서 '감각 발달과 창의적 사고, 성취감'을 기를 수 있도록 구성됐다.
참여 아동들은 직접 재료의 촉감과 향기를 탐색하고, 나무 조각을 만지고 다듬으며, '나만의 자동차' 만들기에 나섰다. 또한 편백나무 숲과 나무로 제작된 조형물을 탐방하며, 촉각과 후각을 활용해 자연물의 특징을 구분하고 관찰하는 등 가을 산책을 즐기기도 했다.

체험 활동에 참가한 한 아동은 본지 기자와의 인터뷰에서 "나무의 느낌과 향기가 너무 좋았고 바스락 거리는 낙엽, 꽃과 새, 나무 친구들이 옆에 다가와서 함께 노는 것 같은 기분이 들어서 재밌었다" 면서, "선생님이 주신 나무로 자동차를 만들었는데 멀리 멀리 잘 굴러갔으면 좋겠다"며 즐거워 했다.
대전맹학교 문성준 교장은 "이번 체험학습은 영아 및 유치원 과정 아동들이 자연과 함께 몸소 배우며 감각과 정서를 키울 수 있는 뜻 깊은 시간이었다" 며, "앞으로도 맹학교 영아, 유아들이 자연과 가까워 질 수 있도록 안전하고 즐거운 체험활동 프로그램들을 다양하게 마련하겠다"고 말했다.
