이날 기념식은 김관영 전북지사와 정동영 통일부 장관을 비롯 더불어민주당 박희승 국회의원ㆍ최경식 남원시장ㆍ이영노 남원 김주열 열사 기념사업회장ㆍ신경순 전북동부보훈지청장 및 도민 등 300여 명이 참석해 독재정치에 맞서 민주주의 수호를 위한 희생정신을 기렸다.
