브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차가 수소버스 공급을 통해 충청남도의 수소교통 확대 정책에 적극 협력한다.
현대차는 6일 천안시청 대회의실에서 환경부 이병화 차관, 충청남도 김태흠 지사, 현대차 국내사업본부장 정유석 부사장, 전략기획실장 김동욱 부사장 등 주요 관계자가 참석한 가운데 ‘충청남도 수송분야 탄소중립 실현 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 2030년까지 도내 경유버스 1200 대를 수소버스로 대체하는 등 본격적으로 수소교통 전환을 추진 중인 충청남도의 친환경 정책에 현대차가 동참하며 성사됐다.
현대차는 이번 협약을 시작으로 올해부터 순차적으로 일렉시티∙유니버스 수소전기버스를 충청남도에 보급하고, 충청남도는 이를 시내외버스, 통학∙통근버스 등으로 활용할 계획이다.
세계 최초 도심형 수소전기버스인 일렉시티 수소전기버스는 교통 지체 구간 등 전기 소모율이 높은 노선 운행에 적합하며, 세계 최초로 고속형 대형버스급에 수소연료전지 시스템을 탑재한 유니버스 수소전기버스는 1회 충전으로 최대 635km 주행이 가능하다는 특징이 있다.
이 외에도 현대차는 충청권에 수소 상용차 정비 서비스 거점 6개소를 구축하는 등 충청남도의 원활한 수소교통 운영을 적극 지원할 계획이다.
현대차 관계자는 “이번 협력을 통해 충청남도의 수소교통 확대와 수송분야 탄소중립 추진에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”며 “앞으로 수소버스 공급 외에도 수소 상용차 정비 서비스 거점을 지속적으로 확충해 충청남도의 원활한 수소교통 운영을 지원할 계획이다”고 말했다.
한편, 충청남도는 수소버스 도입 외에도 수소 충전 인프라 확대를 위해 주요 업체들과 협약을 맺고 2030년까지 도내에 수소충전소 총 67기를 보급하기로 하는 등 수송분야 탄소중립 실현을 위한 노력을 이어갈 계획이다.
