[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 ‘2024년 목재이용 활성화 분야’ 시상에서 전국 3개 기관에 수여되는 우수기관으로 선정됐다고 27일 밝혔다.
이번 수상으로 월아산 우드랜드는 지역의 목재문화를 선도하고 시민에게 양질의 목재문화 서비스를 제공해 목재문화 활성화에 기여한 공을 인정받았다.
우드랜드는 지난 2018년부터 운영을 시작해 올 한해만 야외관람을 포함해 35만에 이러고 있으며, 이는 지난해 대비 방문객이 3만명 이상 증가한 수치다.
월아산 우드랜드는 친환경 목재를 활용해 직접 만들어 보고 체험할 수 있는 목재 교육실과 나무로 만들어진 장난감 상상놀이터, 휴식 공간 등으로 지역명소가 됐다.
또 야외에는 숲정’과 작가정원이 있으며, 유아숲과 숲해설 체험, 산림레포츠, 자연휴양림 운영을 통해 다양한 체험 장소로 각광받고 있다.
특히 올해부터 교통약자와 취약계층을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 목공체험’프로그램을 활성화하고, 치유목공 프로그램을 개발 운영해 시민들의 관심을 모으고 있다.
진주시 관계자는 “다양한 목재교육 프로그램 개발과 지속적인 목재문화 서비스 제공에 힘쓸 예정이다”며“목재이용활성화에 선도적 역할을 할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
