브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 지난 15일 전라도 광주 금남로 일대에서 대규모로 열린 윤석열 대통령 탄핵 반대 집회를 놓고, 정치권에선 제각기 다른 해석을 내놓았다.
먼저 더불어민주당 지도부는 "민주주의를 모욕하는 극우 세력의 만행"이라고 비판했다.
박찬대 민주당 원내대표는 15일 오후 페이스북에 "극우세력들이 민주화의 성지 광주에서 대규모 집회를 열고 민주주의와 헌정질서를 모독하고 있다"며 "즉시 멈추라"고 촉구했다.
그는 "5·18 당시 계엄군이 총격을 가한 흔적이 생생하게 살아있는 전일빌딩 앞에서 하나회 사진을 띄우고, 심지어 길 가는 광주시민들에게 빨갱이라고 욕설을 퍼부었다고 한다"며 "상식을 가진 사람으로서, 민주공화국의 시민으로서는 도저히 행해서 안 될 만행"이라고 했다.

박지원 민주당 의원도 자신의 SNS에 "광주는 하나였고 지금도 하나로, 영원히 하나"라며 "광주에 외인부대가 수많은 버스로 동원돼 절반으로 쪼개졌다는 주장은 억지주장"이라고 밝혔다.
박 의원은 이어 "일부 개신교 신자들을 전국에서 동원한 것은 예수님의 정의가 아니다"라며 "트럼프도 버린 내란 수괴 윤석열을 옹호하는 집회를 민주성지 광주에서, 동원된 외인부대가 했다는 것 자체가 치욕"이라고 지적했다.
전현희 민주당 최고위원은 페이스북을 통해 "민주화의 성지 광주 금남로에서 '제2의 전두환'인 윤석열 옹위집회를 여는 금수만도 못한 만행을 저질렀다"며 "극우세력의 인면수심이 금도를 넘었다"고 비난했다.

반면 여권에선 광주의 민심이 달라졌다는 평가는 내놨다.
홍준표 대구시장은 16일 자신의 SNS에 "80년대 이후 광주에서 수만명의 군중이 모인 보수단체 집회가 금남로에서 개최된 것은 이번이 처음"이라며 "금남로는 광주 민주화의 상징거리인데 그곳에서 탄핵 반대 보수단체 집회가 개최 될 수 있었다는 건 그만큼 빛고을 광주가 변하고 있다는 것"이라고 말했다.

호남 출신인 장성민 전 의원은 "금남로에 모인 3만 민심은 위기의 대한민국을 걱정했고, 실종된 정의와 공정, 무너진 법치와 자유민주주의의 회복을 요구했다"면서 "금남로 민심의 또 다른 요구는 이 대표를 향한 대선불출마 요구"라고 주장했다.
장 전 의원은 이어 "전과4범 이재명 대표와 관련, 현재 진행 중인 재판이 무려 5개이고 이것이 모두 유죄로 확정될 경우, 이 대표의 전과기록은 기존의 4개에 5개가 더해져 전과9범"이라며 "금남로의 민심은 이런 엄청난 사법 리스크를 안고 이 대표가 어떻게 대한민국과 국민을 대표하는 정치활동을 계속할 수 있겠느냐는 비판의 소리"라고 했다.
