강남구 선정릉에 소재한 민속극장 풍류에서 2월 16일 오후 3시에 열린 채수정소리단 제5회 정기발표회 ‘각양각색’ 공연을 다녀왔다. 한국예술종합학교 전통예술원 교수와 세계 판소리협회 이사장을 맡고 있는 채수정 명창의 제자들로 구성된 공연 오프닝은 전통 판소리 흥보가 박 타는 대목의 신명으로 세상의 소란에 무겁게 가라앉은 관중들을 들썩이게 하였다.
박록주제 박송희류 흥보가 이수자로 완성의 미학을 거머쥔 완창의 소리꾼 유성실의 탄탄한 소리 속에 흥건하게 쏟아진 신명의 해학이 눈과 귀를 열게 하였다. 지명인 고수의 숨찬 휘모리장단과 가쁜 숨을 고르는 중중모리장단의 틈새를 바쁘게 오가는 너름새와 이곳저곳 두루 살피는 아니리가 어우러진 재담 소리는 관객을 쥐락펴락하였다.
이어진 춘향가 어사 상봉 대목을 단막극으로 엮어낸 마당은 오랜 시대의 거리감을 눈앞에 두는 느낌이었다. 명창박록주전국악대전 일반부 최우수상 수상자로 광주시립창극단 최연소 상임 단원으로 활동 중인 이서희(향단)와 완산 전국국악대제전 일반부 판소리 대상을 받은 이치현(월매) 그리고 전주대사습놀이 판소리 일반부 장원 수상자인 이세영(이몽룡)이 펼친 대목은 ‘춘향편지’ 대목과 ‘옥중상봉’ 대목 사이의 내용이었다.
걸인 이몽룡을 바라보는 월매의 시선과 춘향의 몸종 향단의 시선을 서사한 판소리의 감성을 시각적 단막극으로 구성한 신선함이 와 닿았다. 또한, 시각적 유희를 균형적으로 구성하여 소리가 가지고 있는 본연의 감성을 한층 섬세하게 전달하면 더욱더 깊은 울림을 드러낼 가능성을 매만졌다,

이어진 공연은 지난해 채수정 소리단이 전남 진도에 있는 국립남도국악원 초청공연에서 만나 초청하게 된 공연이라는 해설과 함께 오랜 역사를 품은 진도소포걸군농악단의 특별한 공연이 이어졌다. 먹먹한 감회가 있었다. 진도 출신 작가로 조선조 후기 남종문인화를 일군 소치 허유 화가의 일대기를 ‘꿈이로다 화연일세’로 문화일보에 연재한 고 곽의진 소설가의 소개로 진도소포걸군 농악에 대한 문헌을 살핀 적이 있었다.
진도소포걸군농악은 임진왜란 당시 의병들이 걸궁패 농악을 꾸려 왜적을 정탐하였던 역사적으로 매우 중요한 유래를 품고 있다. 소포마을의 공동체적인 삶이 빚어낸 농악의 다양한 특성이 인정되어 지난 2014년 유네스코 인류무형문화유산으로 등재된 민속 농악이다. 이는 2009년에 등재된 강강술래와 2012년 등재된 진도아리랑, 그리고 2014년에 등재된 진도 농악에 이은 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 등재로 예향 진도의 실체를 확인하게 한다.
목포에서 제주로 가는 다도해 사이의 바닷길에 천연의 내항을 품고 있는 지형의 전남 진도군 지산면 소포리는 미스트롯의 여신 송가인의 고향 앵무리와 접하고 있다.
왜적의 침략으로 풍전등화의 국난을 맞아 명량대첩 승전의 국운을 품은 정신을 바탕으로 소중한 민속 굿판으로 보존해 온 농악의 이수자와 단원인 김남용, 한성예, 김진영, 이정숙, 김인태, 곽현명 예인들이 진도에서 상경하여 보여준 특별한 무대를 지켜보며 예향 진도의 예술혼을 깊숙하게 품은 채수정 교수의 소중한 의식을 매만지며 아낌없는 박수를 보냈다.

이어 소리와 창극이 어우러진 입체창으로 적벽가 중 적벽강 불 지르는 대목의 공연으로 이어졌다. 판소리 중에서 명창의 관문으로 평가하는 백미의 대목에 채수정 명창과 저마다의 역량이 뛰어난 여성 제자들로 선보인 절제미가 인상적인 공연은 큰 박수를 받았다.
채수정 명창과 적벽가 대목을 공연한 소리꾼은 명창박록주전국악대전 대통령상 수상자인 채수정소리단 맏언니 함수연과 국가무형유산 가야금산조-병창 이수자 심윤아, 국가무형유산 흥보가 이수자 유성실, 세계판소리협회 정회원 전하영, 국가무형유산 판소리 이수자 이다연, 세계판소리협회 정회원 장예림이었다.
이어 경기소리 재담과 서도민요 고사염불인 반메기로 이어진 축원경과 비나리의 축원과 덕담을 소통하는 관중의 추임새가 깊어진 공연장에 꽃 타령, 동백타령, 남원산성, 성주풀이, 진도아리랑으로 이어진 남도민요 메들리의 신명이 흐드러졌다.
