시는 지난 25일 시청 대회의실에서 부시장을 주재로 관련 부서장과 팀장 등 60여 명이 참석한 가운데, 올해 첫 인구정책 실무추진 T/F팀 회의를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
회의에서는 지역 인구 현황과 다양한 인구 정책에 대한 설명이 이어졌으며, 지방소멸대응기금을 활용한 투자사업 발굴과 저출생 위기 극복을 위한 신규 시책도 보고되었다. 회의는 각 분야별로 구체적인 대응책을 논의하는 방식으로 진행되었으며, 참석자들은 토론과 질의응답을 통해 문제 해결 방안을 모색했다.
먼저 주관 부서에서는 출생·육아부터 고령화와 인구 변화 대응까지 생애 전주기를 아우르는 5개 분야의 주요 인구정책을 설명했다. 이후 지방소멸대응기금을 효율적으로 활용하기 위한 투자사업에 대해 논의가 이어졌으며, 예술창작소와 동경주 복합문화도서관 건립, 농업테마 과일정원 및 경관화훼단지 조성, 아이꿈터 임대주택 건립 등 총 6개의 다양한 사업이 제안되었다.
경주시는 정주인구 증가 및 생활인구 확대를 목표로 지방소멸대응기금의 주요 투자 방향을 설정하고, 국가-지자체 간 연계 사업을 강화해 나갈 계획이다. 오는 6월에는 투자계획서를 제출하고, 11월에는 배정기금을 받을 예정이다.
송호준 부시장은 “인구감소 문제는 단지 지자체의 문제가 아니라, 우리 모두가 함께 해결해야 할 국가적 과제”라며 “오늘 실무회의에서 제안된 창의적인 정책들을 신속하게 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 경주시는 현재 지방소멸대응기금을 활용해 귀농·귀촌 체류시설 ‘웰컴팜하우스’(79억원), 新실크로드520센터(28억원), 스마트 골든밸리(22억원), 중소기업 특례보증 금융지원(18억원) 등 다양한 사업을 추진 중이다.
