우주의 시간, 지구의 시간, 인간의 시간은 제각기 어김없이 흘러간다. 겨울을 견뎌낸 마늘과 양파의 잎은 푸르고 거름을 머금은 들녘은 윤기가 흐르고 있다. 촉촉이 봄비의 부드러운 들녘의 일상이 곱게 펼쳐지고 있다. 역동의 소리이며 생명의 향기이다.
3월의 눈, 꽃샘추위가 모든 것을 일시 정지시켜 놓는다. 이미 와있는 초록의 봄을 하얗게 덮어 바쁜 들녁의 일을 멈추고, 생각조차 고요하게 만든다.
집 앞 화단에 겨울을 뚫고 나와 봄을 알렸던 수선화의 잎들이 다시 눈 속에 갇혀 있지만 아직은 고고함과 생동감을 잃지 않고 있다. 문득 봄이 일시 정지된 하얀 꽃샘추위의 고요 속에서 정호승 님의 ‘수선화에게’ 詩를 떠올려 멈춘 시간 속에 그려본다.

울지 마라
외로우니까 사람이다
살아간다는 것은 외로움을 견디는 일이다
공연히 오지 않는 전화를 기다리지 마라
눈이 오면 눈길을 걸어가고
비가 오면 빗길을 걸어가라
갈대숲에서 가슴 검은 도요새도 너를 보고 있다
가끔은 하느님도 외로워서 눈물을 흘리신다.
새들이 나뭇가지에 앉아 있는 것도 외로움 때문이고
네가 물가에 앉아 있는 것도 외로움 때문이다
산 그림자도 외로워서 하루에 한 번씩 마을로 내려온다.
종소리도 외로워서 울려 퍼진다.
수선화 꽃말 중 ‘외로움’이 있다. 봄을 시샘하는 폭설과 추위도 우주의 섭리이고 지구의 운행이며 계절의 과정이다. ‘눈이 오면 눈길을 걸어가고 비가 오면 빗길을 걸어가라’ 마음을 비우고 순응하는 것이 외로움을 견디어 내는 일일 것이다. 그 속에서 받아들이지 못하는 인간의 마음에 고통의 그늘이 드리워져 있는 것이다.
예수님이 십자가를 지고 걸었던 골고다의 길은 외로움과 슬픔의 길이다. 고통과 두려움의 시간에 아무도 의지 할 수 없었던 철저한 고독이었다.
‘살아간다는 것은 외로움을 견디는 일이다.’ 채워도, 채워도 채워지지 않는 사람의 마음, 예수님은 인류의 사랑으로 채웠지만 사람들은 욕심으로 가득 채우려 한다. 그래서 고통이고 아픔이고 채워지지 않은 허전함은 외로움으로 이어지는 것이 아닐까?
인간의 삶은 고통이라고 할 때 고통은 삶의 불가피한 본질이고 결국 고통을 받아들일 때 비로소 삶에 대한 지혜가 드러나는 것이라고 한다. 뿌리는 대로 싹을 틔우는 봄은 마음에 소유하는 욕망도 움트게 된다.
이제 외로움, 슬픔, 고통, 두려움으로 살아가야 하는 시간을 받아들이고 마음에 나눔과 비움의 지혜를 배워 촉촉한 봄비와 따뜻한 햇살을 함께 느낄 수 있는 시간으로 만들어 가고 싶다. 수선화에 덮인 춘설의 꽃샘추위에 문득 사람이 걸어가야 하는 길을 생각을 하게 된다.

사계가 고요하다. 비록 눈으로 덮여 일시 정지되었지만 봄은 봄인 것이다. 존경하는 황병기 선생님의 ‘춘설’ 가야금 곡을 들으며 너무 잘 어울리는 정지용 시인의 ‘春雪’을 하얀 들녘에 향해 조용히 읊조린다.

먼 산이 이마에 차라.
우수절(雨水節) 들어
바로 초하루 아침,
새삼스레 눈이 덮인 멧부리와
서늘옵고 빛난 이마받이하다.
얼음 금 가고 바람 새로 따르거니

옹송그리고 살아난 양이

미나리 파릇한 새순 돋고
