충남 당진시 기지시줄다리기 축제가 아시아 대표 문화유산 축제로 인정받으며 큰 성과를 거두었다.
당진시(시장 오성환)에 따르면, 이 축제가 세계축제협회 아시아지부가 주최하는 ‘2025 아시아 피너클 어워즈’에서 ‘베스트 문화유산 프로그램’으로 선정되었다.
아시아피나클 어워즈는 홍보, 마케팅, 디자인, 지속 가능성, 퍼레이드 등 다양한 요소에서 우수성을 보여주는 축제에 시상하며, 향후 세계축제협회 월드 피나클 어워즈의 예선 역할을 할 예정이다.
이번 시상식은 2025 세계 축제 정상회의의 일환으로 경주화백컨벤션센터에서 3월 19일부터 21일까지 진행된다.
기지시줄다리기 축제는 유네스코 인류무형유산에 등재된 지역 대표 문화유산으로, 국내외 줄다리기를 소재로 한 독특한 축제이다.
특히, 관람 중심의 다른 축제와 달리 참가자들이 직접 줄다리기에 참여하는 ‘참여형 축제’라는 점이 수상의 주된 이유로 작용했다.
최홍섭 기지시줄다리기축제위원장은 “유네스코 등재 10주년을 맞이하는 2025 기지시줄다리기 축제 직전 이러한 수상으로 매우 기쁘다”며, “명성에 걸맞은 세계적인 축제로 도약하기 위해 최선을 다해 축제를 준비하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
