이번 교육은 반려견의 짖음, 공격성 등 다양한 문제행동을 교정함으로써 주변 이웃의 불편을 해소하고 반려견 가정의 행복한 삶을 지원하고자 마련되었다. 2021년부터 시작한 교육은 구민들의 성원에 힘입어 올해로 5년째 시행되고 있다.
신청 대상은 동물등록을 완료한 중랑구민 55가구로, 동물 소유자로 등록된 구민의 명의로만 가능하다. 신청 인원을 초과할 경우, 관내 저소득층(기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족) 및 65세 이상의 1인 어르신 가구, 유기견 입양 가구, 세 마리 이상 반려견을 키우는 가구 등의 우선순위로 선정한다.
