김두관 전 의원(더불어민주당)은 4월14일 발표한 “김대중‧노무현 정신을 저버린 민주당 경선을 거부합니다” 제목의 성명에서 “죄송합니다. 부끄럽습니다. 그렇지만 김대중‧노무현 정신을 저버린 민주당 경선에 참여할 면목이 없습니다”는 내용을 발표했다.
